Autumn’s here, dive into Cirencester’s favourite open air pool
BOOK A SWIM
Bordering Cirencester Park, this historic open air pool has been inviting visitors to its warm spring-sourced waters since 1870
A Cotswold tourist attraction that visitors are amazed to find, it offers a unique blend of history, charm, and community spirit. Run entirely by volunteers as a registered charity, we take pride in preserving this cherished community space for all to enjoy.
Our pool’s serenely beautiful setting is just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of town so come and enjoy the sessions that run from April to September.
The main pool is 27m long, has 4 lanes and is kept at an inviting 26 degrees. Originally built as a 30 yard pool, a 1 mile swim is 59 lengths.
We also have a children’s pool that’s 0.5m deep.
Lastly, there’s our delightful tuck shop, serving hot and cold snacks and drinks to keep hunger at bay while suncream, swimming aids and swimwear are stocked at the shop.

Whether you want dawn dips, lunchtime lengths, aqua aerobics, a leisurely swim or a splash with the family, there’s something for everyone at the Cirencester Lido.
Our changing rooms for male, female and disabled users are open plan, with plenty of space for manoeuvrability and several cubicles for privacy. They have lockers, toilets and coin-operated showers and hair dryers (which take 20p pieces – you can get these at the gate).
There’s also a separate changing room for families and wheelchair users, equipped with a full-length changing table, a toilet and an accessible shower with a chair.

Pop-up Sauna
Unwind after your swim with our new wellness facilities, designed for relaxation and recovery. Whether you’re in the mood for a warming sauna session, a bracing dip in one of our plunge pools, or relaxing on a sun bed with the spectacular backdrop of the castle, there’s an upgraded way to enjoy your visit at Cirencester Open Air Pool.
Our sauna holds up to 8 people and is booked as part of a combined swim and sauna session, offering an affordable way to enjoy wellness facilities. The two plunge pools offer a cold-water contrast to the sauna’s heat, a combination increasingly popular for recovery and wellbeing. Outdoor showers are available to rinse off between sessions and our sun beds give you the opportunity to relax after activity.
As the darker evenings approach, our mood lighting creates a calm, atmospheric setting for an evening swim and a sauna session.
Please note: our wellness facilities are available to those aged 16 and over.
