Firstly, a big thank you to everyone for supporting our wonderful pool this past summer whether you supported as a swimmer, season ticket holder or volunteer. Also, thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to donate time, prizes or money to our fundraising events.
We have had a successful summer and managed to run a full season. We had quite a few new lifeguards who joined our regulars and have been assimilated into the pool system, ably guided by our excellent Pool Managers.
Immediately after the pool closed in September, a band of dedicated volunteers set to cleaning the entire site. Once the pool was ‘put to bed’ for the winter, the general maintenance work started for the whole site.
We have had two structural engineers volunteering their time & expertise to look at the physical structure of the pool. We have also been investigating the viability of installing solar panels on the changing room roof to provide us with clean energy.
This summer our flower boxes were a joy to see and had daily attention from the pool volunteers. Some seeds have been retained so we can recreate similar displays again next year.
Thank you everyone who purchased an 'Early Bird' season ticket for the 2022 season in September; over 200 tickets were sold. 2022 season tickets will go back on sale again in the Spring of 2022. We will notify you when they are available to purchase.
This past season we have been fundraising for facilities to enable people with disabilities to use our pool more easily. Initially, we have sought to fund a pool hoist to enable safe entry into the pool for people with disabilities as well as a safe and secure place to house it. We are also looking to install a changing table in the Family changing room.
Our two Tombola stalls in September raised £267, so thank you to everyone who supported the tombola.
On Thursday 18th November from 10.30am to 4pm, there will be a gift stall in the Corn Hall by the cafe, next to our normal book stall. Please pop in and purchase your Christmas presents while at the same time supporting our pool, there will be lots of lovely items to buy.
The Pool Book stall also operates through the winter in the Corn Hall, usually from Sunday to Thursday. The stall raises around £1,000 a year towards our fundraising. Book donations are always welcome in the Hall - please leave them under the table.
You may have noticed the 'Blue Tokens' campaigns in the Tesco stores in the Brewery car park and the large Tesco at Kings Meadow. Please look out for them and perhaps post your tokens in the container for the ‘Cirencester Open Air Pool’. This would be greatly appreciated as it will help us to fulfil our desire for Disability facilities. The token containers for the open-air pool will be there for another month until mid-December

Thanks in advance for nominating us.
We have plans afoot for the 2022 season, the trustees and volunteers who run the Tuck Shop have already planned to operate tuck shop 'plastic free' from next season. There are also plans to expand the food menu to provide some tasty light meals. Watch out for more information in the new year.
Meanwhile, our website is being overhauled by our volunteers in the communications team. A lot of the work is going on under the covers as well as updating the contents. One of the aims is to make accessing the site and swim booking system easier and quicker, particularly for people accessing the site through their mobile devices.
Our marketing team would also love to hear from you if you have any photographs of the pool that we could use on our web site. We are particularly interested in any photos from the 1950's onwards. If you have any photos that you could let us use, please send them along with any stories behind the photos to our marketing teamat via our Contact Page. Before sending any photos please make sure they are copyright free and you have permission from the owner (if not you) for us to use the photos. We wiil acknowledge the photographer and/or owner if the photos are added to the web site
Lastly, at the end of last season, we put out a plea for more volunteers resulting in quite a few people coming forward to help and adding to our existing volunteer who have agreed to come back again next season. However, we would still like to have more volunteers to help share the workload. So, if you would like to help, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact the volunteer team at via our Contact Page
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Autumn and Winter and we look forward to welcoming you back again to the Pool in May 2022.
The Trustees, Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool
