Supporting the Pool
Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool was built in 1869 and first used in 1870, over 150 years and counting. For the majority of these years, a significant amount of maintenance work has needed to be carried out, year-on-year, to refurbish and maintain this wonderful community resource. Our entrance money goes a long way towards this, but for special projects we need to raise additional finance and our charity relies on funding and donations to allow us to continue to improve.
We are extremely grateful for the support that we have received from our swimmers, volunteers, and sponsors over the years. We cannot exist without this support, and you can help us in a variety of ways. Whether you give to us through donations, grants, or volunteering your time, we would like to say thank you.
Volunteering
Have you got what it takes to be a COASP Volunteer? We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable people to join us.
We rely heavily on the commitment of our volunteers to primarily help in the tuckshop and man the entrance gate, and we are so grateful to them. Also, there are events through the year which we can only run with the help of our wonderful volunteer helpers.
Please get in touch if you would like to become part of our wonderful team. You can contact us via our Contact page, please select Volunteer Team on the form.
"I first starting being involved as a volunteer by helping my daughter Katie in the Tuck Shop. I’m still there three years later and really enjoy it - especially on hot, sunny days. I love watching everyone having a brilliant time at our fabulous pool. It’s good being part of a team and I love the rapport we have between the volunteers, lifeguards, and swimmers. It’s just a great place to be."
Sandy Noonan, Tuck Shop volunteer
Fundraising
Each year, we aim to improve our facilities by either purchasing new equipment or renovating and improving our existing facilities. We have to raise funds though our charity to pay for these improvements, as the entrance money is used for the day to day running of the pool. We approach local companies and funders where possible.
We hold several fundraising events throughout the season, including a Dawn Swim, normally held around the 21st June, where you can watch the sun rise while swimming. We also have late evening swims and a 24 hour swimathon, so something for everyone. Having fun in our spectacular surroundings while raising money for our charity, what better way is there to spend a few hours?
If you are a local company and would like to support this wonderful community asset, please get in touch – we would love you to be involved. You can get in touch with our Fundraising Team via our Contact page. Please select Fundraising Team on the form.

In 2021/2022 we fundraised for a mobile hoist and full-size changing table, both of which have been installed. Thank you to The Barnwood Trust, Tesco Blue Token Scheme, St James’s Place, Richard O’Donnell, Mermaid Swims, Cirencester Rotary and Ecclesiastical Insurance Movement for Good.
In 2022, we ran a fundraising campaign to raise approximately £12,000 for the purchase and installation of solar panels to reduce our energy costs and carbon footprint. These solar panels were installed prior to the 2023 season
Our thanks to all the people and organisations who have supported us over the years
